WHO WE ARE

FOGFEST emerged from the deep in 2021, founded by the filmmaking collective GRIND MIND to give Newfoundland’s horror and genre creators a home on the big screen. What began as a one-night showcase quickly grew into a full-fledged festival, drawing international premieres and transforming downtown St. John’s each November into a haunted hub for filmmakers, fans, and industry professionals.

Now a non-profit, FOGFEST blends cinema with live performances, panels, and community events, while fuelling the local economy with an influx of visitors during the off-season. With initiatives like Rise the Tide spotlighting underrepresented voices, and a growing reputation as a must-attend destination on the festival circuit, FOGFEST has become both a celebration of boundary-pushing films and a fixture in Newfoundland’s cultural landscape.

By fostering accessibility and cultivating a vibrant community, we aim to elevate the profile of genre cinema in our region while amplifying the diverse voices shaping it.
